Meet Ms. Jones
I have worked in education for 13 years, as a teacher and teacher leader at both the elementary and middle levels. A Maine native who grew up in Wiscasset, I attended Wiscasset schools and then Wellesley College, where I earned a B.A. in Biology. After working for many years in science, public relations, and marketing, I found my true passion in teaching, and have worked in education ever since.
My own education includes graduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Lesley University, and Johns Hopkins University. I have a master’s degree in journalism as well as a master’s degree in education. In addition to administration I have teaching endorsements in elementary education, science, and gifted & talented education. Two of my professional focus areas have been differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and integrating literacy and math with science to engage students in real-world challenges. I look forward to bringing this experience to my teaching work at CCS this year, which will focus on working with students who are struggling with literacy and math as a Title 1 teacher to help accelerate their learning and growth.
My husband and I moved to Cushing nearly four years ago.We have two grown children, a son who is teaching abroad in China and a daughter who works in the boat-building industry in Thomaston. When I’m not at work I’m often working with my husband in our garden or spending time with family and friends.
I am excited to be part of the committed community of staff, students and families at CCS who work together to create the best possible learning experiences for students. If at any time you would like to discuss concerns, hear about what is happening at CCS, or share your ideas please feel free to contact me. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call me at 354-2312 to have a phone conversation or arrange a time to meet in person.
